Aspirin, also known as acetylsalicylic acid, is a widely used medication with pain-relieving, anti-inflammatory, and antipyretic (fever-reducing) properties. It belongs to a class of drugs known as nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs).

Aspirin works by inhibiting the production of certain chemicals in the body called prostaglandins. These chemicals are involved in inflammation, pain, and fever. By reducing the production of prostaglandins, aspirin helps to alleviate symptoms such as pain and inflammation and lower fever.
