Apiban 2.5mg Tablet contains Apixaban as its active ingredient. Apixaban is classified as an anticoagulant or a blood thinner. It is used to reduce the risk of stroke and systemic embolism in patients with nonvalvular atrial fibrillation, as well as to treat and prevent deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE).
Features:
- Anticoagulant: Apixaban works by inhibiting factor Xa, which is involved in the coagulation cascade. By blocking factor Xa, Apixaban helps to prevent the formation of blood clots.
- Oral Administration: Apiban 2.5mg Tablet is taken orally, usually with or without food, as directed by your healthcare provider.
- Fixed Dose: It is typically prescribed at a fixed dose without the need for routine monitoring of coagulation parameters such as prothrombin time (PT) or international normalized ratio (INR).
Uses:
- Nonvalvular Atrial Fibrillation: Apiban 2.5mg Tablet is indicated for reducing the risk of stroke and systemic embolism in patients with nonvalvular atrial fibrillation (AF) who have one or more risk factors for stroke.
- Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) and Pulmonary Embolism (PE): It is also used for the treatment and prevention of deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE) following initial therapy.
Administration:
- Take Apiban 2.5mg Tablet orally with a full glass of water.
- Swallow the tablet whole; do not crush, chew, or break it.
- Follow the dosage instructions provided by your doctor carefully.
- Do not stop taking Apiban 2.5mg Tablet without consulting your doctor, as abruptly discontinuing anticoagulant therapy may increase the risk of thrombotic events.
Precautions:
- Inform your healthcare provider about any pre-existing medical conditions, allergies, or medications you are currently taking before starting Apiban 2.5mg Tablet.
- Use caution in patients with a history of bleeding disorders or gastrointestinal ulcers.
- Monitor for signs of bleeding, such as unusual bruising, bleeding gums, or prolonged bleeding from cuts, and seek medical attention if necessary.
- Avoid concomitant use of Apiban 2.5mg Tablet with other anticoagulants or antiplatelet agents unless specifically instructed by your doctor.
