Description
Apreon 80/125mg Capsule contains the active ingredient Aprepitant. It belongs to a class of medications known as neurokinin-1 (NK1) receptor antagonists. Aprepitant is used to prevent nausea and vomiting associated with certain types of cancer chemotherapy and surgery.
Uses:
- Chemotherapy-Induced Nausea and Vomiting (CINV): Apreon 80/125mg Capsule is indicated for the prevention of nausea and vomiting caused by chemotherapy in patients receiving highly emetogenic chemotherapy (HEC) or moderately emetogenic chemotherapy (MEC).
- Postoperative Nausea and Vomiting (PONV): It may also be used to prevent nausea and vomiting following surgery when other antiemetic medications are inadequate.
Benefits:
- Effective Prevention: Aprepitant helps prevent nausea and vomiting by blocking the action of substance P, a neurotransmitter involved in triggering these symptoms.
- Improved Quality of Life: By reducing the occurrence of nausea and vomiting, Apreon 80/125mg Capsule can enhance the quality of life for patients undergoing chemotherapy or surgery.
- Convenient Dosage Form: Available in capsule form, Apreon is easy to administer orally.
Dosage and Administration:
- The dosage and duration of treatment with Apreon 80/125mg Capsule depend on various factors, including the type of chemotherapy or surgery, the patient’s age, weight, and medical condition.
- It is essential to follow the prescribed dosage and administration instructions provided by the healthcare provider.
- Apreon capsules should be taken with or without food, usually one hour before chemotherapy or surgery.
Precautions:
- Apreon 80/125mg Capsule may interact with certain medications, including warfarin and other drugs metabolized by the CYP3A4 enzyme system. Patients should inform their healthcare provider about all medications they are taking.
- It should be used with caution in patients with liver impairment, as Aprepitant is primarily metabolized by the liver.
- Aprepitant may cause dizziness or drowsiness. Patients should avoid driving or operating machinery until they know how the medication affects them.
- Apreon should not be used during pregnancy unless the potential benefits outweigh the risks to the fetus.
Storage:
- Store Apreon 80/125mg Capsule at room temperature, away from moisture and heat.
- Keep the capsules in the original packaging and out of reach of children.
