It is used to reduce the risk of stroke and systemic embolism in patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation, as well as for the treatment and prevention of blood clots in various medical conditions.

Active Ingredient:

Apixaban: This medication works by inhibiting the activity of specific clotting factors in the blood, particularly factor Xa, thereby preventing the formation of blood clots.

Uses:

Eliquis 2.5mg Tablet is indicated for:

• Reducing the risk of stroke and systemic embolism in patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation
• Treatment and prevention of deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE)
• Reducing the risk of recurrent DVT and PE following initial therapy

Mechanism of Action:

Apixaban exerts its anticoagulant effects by selectively inhibiting factor Xa, a key enzyme involved in the blood clotting process. By blocking factor Xa, apixaban prevents the formation of thrombin, a crucial step in the coagulation cascade, thus inhibiting clot formation.

Administration:
