Esopase 20mg Capsule contains the active ingredient Esomeprazole. It belongs to a class of medications known as proton pump inhibitors (PPIs). Esomeprazole works by reducing the production of stomach acid, thereby helping to alleviate symptoms of acid-related conditions such as gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), peptic ulcers, and erosive esophagitis.
Uses:
- Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD): Esopase Capsule is commonly prescribed for the treatment of GERD, a condition characterized by the backward flow of stomach acid into the esophagus, causing heartburn and other symptoms.
- Peptic ulcers: It may be used to heal and prevent the recurrence of peptic ulcers (ulcers in the stomach or duodenum) caused by Helicobacter pylori infection or long-term use of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs).
- Erosive esophagitis: Esomeprazole helps heal and relieve symptoms of erosive esophagitis, inflammation and erosion of the lining of the esophagus due to stomach acid.
