Whitfield Ointment is a topical medication that contains two active ingredients: salicylic acid & clobetasol. Salicylic acid is a keratolytic agent that helps to remove dead skin cells and soften the skin. Clobetasol is a potent corticosteroid that reduces inflammation, itching, and redness associated with various skin conditions. This combination ointment is commonly used to treat fungal infections of the skin, such as ringworm and athlete’s foot, as well as inflammatory skin conditions like eczema and psoriasis.

Composition:

• Active Ingredients: Salicylic Acid and Clobetasol
• Inactive Ingredients: The ointment base may contain other ingredients such as white petrolatum and mineral oil.

Uses:

• Fungal Infections: Whitfield Ointment is effective against fungal infections of the skin, including ringworm (tinea corporis) and athlete’s foot (tinea pedis).
• Inflammatory Skin Conditions: It may also be used to treat inflammatory skin conditions like eczema, psoriasis, and dermatitis, where there is redness, itching, and inflammation.

Dosage and Administration:

• Clean and dry the affected area before applying a thin layer of Whitfield Ointment to the affected skin.
• Gently massage the ointment into the skin until it is absorbed.
• Wash your hands after applying the ointment unless the hands are the affected area.

Precautions:

• Avoid contact with the eyes, mouth, and mucous membranes when applying Whitfield Ointment.
• Do not apply the ointment to broken or infected skin unless directed by a healthcare professional.
• Long-term use of corticosteroids like clobetasol may cause skin thinning, so it should be used sparingly and under medical supervision.

Side Effects:
