BAMIFYLLINE
Bamifylline belongs to the same family as theophylline. It relaxes the muscle around the airways and reduces inflammation in them, and it is taken as tablets for ongoing control rather than for sudden relief.
What Bamifylline Is Used For
- Asthma, as maintenance treatment
- Chronic bronchitis and COPD
- Persistent wheeze and breathlessness
- Add on treatment when inhalers alone are not enough
Common Side Effects
- Nausea and stomach discomfort
- Headache
- Trouble sleeping
- Palpitations or restlessness
Precautions
This class does not act quickly, so it never replaces a reliever inhaler during an attack. Tell your doctor about heart problems, thyroid disease, stomach ulcers or fits. Several antibiotics and other medicines change how it is cleared from the body, so mention it before starting anything new. Report palpitations, persistent vomiting or marked restlessness.
