LERACANIDIPINE
Lercanidipine relaxes and widens the arteries by blocking calcium entry into the muscle in their walls. It acts gradually, which means it tends to cause less flushing and ankle swelling than older medicines in the same family.

Precautions
Take it before a meal, and avoid grapefruit juice, which raises its level in the blood significantly. Ankle swelling that becomes troublesome should be reported rather than tolerated, as a change of medicine usually solves it. Keep taking it even though high blood pressure causes no symptoms, and do not stop suddenly without advice.
