Mirtazapine is an antidepressant used for depression, often chosen when sleep and appetite are affected. It is usually taken at night.

Precautions
Mirtazapine often causes drowsiness, which is why it is taken at night, and it can increase appetite. Do not stop it suddenly – the dose is lowered slowly. It can take a few weeks to feel the full benefit. Tell your doctor if you feel unusually low or restless early on, and avoid alcohol.
