Ofloxacin is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic. It comes as tablets for body infections and as ear and eye drops for local infections.

  • Urinary tract infections
  • Certain chest and skin infections
  • Ear and eye infections, in drop form

Common Side Effects

  • Nausea and loose motions
  • Headache or dizziness
  • Uncommonly, tendon pain

Precautions

With the tablets, keep antacids, iron and calcium at least two hours apart, and contact your doctor about any tendon pain or numbness and tingling. Your skin may burn more easily in the sun. For drops, avoid touching the dropper tip to the eye or ear.
