BRINZOLOMIDE
This page covers brinzolamide supplied as an eye suspension, sometimes spelled brinzolomide on packs. It is a carbonic anhydrase inhibitor, which means it reduces how much fluid the eye produces and therefore the pressure inside it.
What It Is Used For
- Raised pressure in open angle glaucoma
- Ocular hypertension
- Combination drops with timolol or brimonidine
- Adding to another drop that is not lowering pressure enough
Common Side Effects
- Blurred vision for a few minutes after use
- Bitter or unusual taste
- Eye discomfort or dryness
- Headache
Precautions
Shake the bottle well, since this is a suspension and the medicine settles. Tell your doctor about any sulfa allergy or kidney problems. Use it every day as prescribed even though glaucoma causes no symptoms until vision is already lost. Keep the bottle tip clean and do not share drops with anyone.
This page is general information only. It is not a substitute for advice from your doctor or pharmacist, and it does not include dosage. Always follow the directions given to you and read the leaflet inside the pack.
