DIMEMORFAN PHOSPHATE
Dimemorfan phosphate acts on the cough centre in the brain to quieten a dry, tickly cough. It is a non opioid suppressant, so it does not relieve pain or cause the dependence associated with codeine based syrups.
What Dimemorfan Phosphate Is Used For
- Dry, irritating cough with no phlegm
- Cough that disturbs sleep
- Cough after a cold or throat infection
- Cough associated with bronchitis, as symptom relief
Common Side Effects
- Drowsiness
- Dizziness
- Nausea
- Dry mouth
Precautions
A cough that brings up phlegm is doing a job, and suppressing it is usually not helpful, so this suits dry coughs only. See a doctor if the cough lasts more than two weeks, brings up blood, or comes with breathlessness, chest pain, fever or weight loss. Avoid alcohol, and do not give cough suppressants to young children without medical advice.
