FLUNISOLIDE
Flunisolide is a corticosteroid delivered as a nasal spray. It reduces the swelling and mucus production inside the nose that cause blockage and sneezing in allergy. Because it acts locally, very little reaches the rest of the body.
What Flunisolide Is Used For
- Seasonal and year round allergic rhinitis
- Persistent nasal blockage and sneezing
- Nasal polyps, on medical advice
- Ongoing control of dust and pollen allergy
Common Side Effects
- Nasal dryness or irritation
- Sneezing straight after use
- Nosebleeds
- Unpleasant taste or smell
Precautions
It works by prevention, so it needs daily use for one to two weeks before the full effect is felt, unlike a decongestant spray that acts in minutes. Aim the nozzle slightly outwards, away from the central wall of the nose, which reduces nosebleeds. Stop and see a doctor if you get repeated nosebleeds or persistent crusting.
