Description
Conkast 4mg Tablet contains Montelukast, a leukotriene receptor antagonist that helps control and prevent asthma symptoms and is also effective for the relief of symptoms of allergic rhinitis (hay fever). Montelukast works by blocking the action of leukotrienes, substances in the body that cause asthma symptoms and allergic reactions.
Uses:
- Prevention and long-term treatment of asthma in adults and children.
- Relief of symptoms of seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis (nasal allergies).
- Prevention of exercise-induced bronchoconstriction (narrowing of the air passages in the lungs) in patients 6 years of age and older.
How to Take:
Take Conkast 4mg Tablet exactly as prescribed by your healthcare provider. It’s usually taken once daily in the evening for asthma and allergic rhinitis. The tablet should be swallowed whole with a glass of water, with or without food. For exercise-induced bronchoconstriction, it’s typically taken at least 2 hours before exercise.
Side Effects:
Possible side effects include:
- Abdominal pain
- Headache
- Thirst
- Diarrhea
- Fatigue
- Skin rash
Most side effects are mild and temporary. However, if you experience any severe reactions or symptoms, such as mood changes, behavioral changes, or signs of an allergic reaction, seek medical attention immediately.
Precautions:
- Inform your doctor about any other medical conditions you have, especially liver problems, as Montelukast is processed by the liver.
- Tell your doctor about all the medications you are taking, including over-the-counter drugs and herbal supplements, to avoid potential interactions.
- Montelukast is not intended to treat acute asthma attacks. Always have a fast-acting (rescue) inhaler with you to treat sudden asthma symptoms.
- If your asthma or breathing gets worse, tell your doctor immediately.
Pregnancy and Breastfeeding:
Consult your doctor if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding. The safety of Montelukast in these conditions has not been fully established.
Alcohol and Driving:
There are no specific restrictions on alcohol intake and driving while taking Montelukast. However, if you experience side effects that could impair your ability to drive or operate machinery, such as dizziness, exercise caution.
Overdose:
In case of an overdose, seek immediate medical help. Symptoms of an overdose might not be immediate but can include stomach pain, sleepiness, thirst, headache, vomiting, and hyperactivity.
