Preterax Tablet

Preterax Tablet is a combination medication containing two active ingredients: perindopril & indapamide. Perindopril belongs to the class of drugs known as ACE inhibitors (Angiotensin-Converting Enzyme inhibitors), while Indapamide is a diuretic belonging to the thiazide class. This combination works synergistically to treat hypertension (high blood pressure) by relaxing blood vessels and increasing the removal of excess fluid and salt from the body.

Uses:

Preterax Tablet is primarily prescribed for the treatment of hypertension. It helps to lower blood pressure, thus reducing the risk of strokes, heart attacks, and kidney problems associated with high blood pressure. Additionally, this medication may also be prescribed for other cardiovascular conditions as determined by the healthcare provider.

Side Effects:

Like any medication, Preterax Tablet may cause side effects, although not everyone experiences them. Common side effects may include dizziness, headache, fatigue, dry cough, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and abdominal pain. In some cases, it may cause more serious side effects such as allergic reactions, severe dizziness, fainting, irregular heartbeat, or signs of electrolyte imbalance. If any adverse reactions occur, it’s essential to seek medical attention promptly.

Precautions:

Before using Preterax Tablet, it’s important to inform your healthcare provider about any pre-existing medical conditions, allergies, or medications you are currently taking. Special precautions may be necessary for individuals with a history of kidney disease, liver disease, heart conditions, diabetes, electrolyte imbalances, or those who are pregnant or breastfeeding. Avoid alcohol consumption while taking this medication as it may exacerbate certain side effects. Contraindications (When Not to Use):

Preterax Tablet should not be used in certain circumstances. It is contraindicated in patients who have a known hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients, individuals with a history of angioedema related to previous ACE inhibitor therapy, those with hereditary or idiopathic angioedema, and during pregnancy, especially during the second and third trimesters. It should also be avoided in patients with severe renal impairment (creatinine clearance <30 ml/min) or severe hepatic impairment.
