Overview

Capozide 50mg/25mg tablet is a combination medicine that contains Captopril and Hydrochlorothiazide. It comes as a tablet.

This medicine combines 2 blood pressure medicines in one tablet. Hydrochlorothiazide is a water tablet (thiazide diuretic) that helps the kidneys remove extra salt and water; Captopril is an ACE inhibitor that relaxes blood vessels. Together they lower blood pressure more than either one alone.

Uses of Capozide 50mg/25mg tablet

Capozide 50mg/25mg tablet is used for:

  • High blood pressure that is not controlled by one medicine alone
  • Replacing the same medicines taken as separate tablets

Side Effects

Like all medicines, Capozide 50mg/25mg tablet can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. Common ones include:

  • Dizziness or light-headedness, especially when standing up
  • Headache
  • Tiredness
  • Dry, tickly cough
  • Passing urine more often

Tell your doctor if a side effect is severe or does not go away, and get urgent help for signs of an allergic reaction such as swelling of the face, wheezing or a widespread rash.

Precautions

Do not take it if you are pregnant or planning a pregnancy. Get urgent help if your face, lips or tongue swell. Tell your doctor if you have gout, diabetes or kidney or liver problems. Your doctor may check your kidney function and blood salts such as potassium. Stand up slowly if you feel dizzy.

Tell your doctor about any other medicines or supplements you take, any allergies, and if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or breastfeeding.

How to Use

Take Capozide 50mg/25mg tablet exactly as your doctor or pharmacist tells you. Swallow it with a glass of water. Do not change the dose or stop taking it on your own. Read the leaflet inside the pack before you start.

Storage

Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, as directed on the pack. Keep out of the reach of children and do not use after the expiry date.
