FLUVOXAMINE MALEATE
Fluvoxamine maleate is an SSRI antidepressant. It raises the level of serotonin available between nerve cells, and it is used particularly often for obsessive compulsive disorder as well as for depression and anxiety.

Common Side Effects
- Nausea, especially in the first two weeks
- Drowsiness or trouble sleeping
- Headache
- Reduced appetite or sexual difficulties
Precautions
Benefit builds over several weeks, so it is not judged in the first few days. Never stop it abruptly, as that causes dizziness, irritability and electric shock sensations, and any reduction should be tapered with your doctor. Fluvoxamine interacts with caffeine, theophylline, some heart and mood medicines, so mention it every time. Report new agitation or thoughts of self harm, especially early in treatment or after a dose change.
