Levonorgestrel is a progestogen hormone. It is used in emergency contraception and in some regular contraceptive methods.

- Changes to the next period’s timing
- Tiredness or headache
Precautions
For emergency use, levonorgestrel works better the sooner it is taken after unprotected sex. It does not protect against sexually transmitted infections, and it is not for regular use as a main method. If your period is very late afterwards, take a pregnancy test and see a doctor.
