Bufexamac, chemically a butoxyphenyl acetohydroxamic acid, is a non steroidal anti inflammatory applied to the skin. It reduces redness and itching without the skin thinning associated with steroid creams.

Eczema and dermatitis
Itchy inflamed skin
Piles and anal irritation, in ointment and suppository form
Minor burns and sunburn

Local burning or stinging
Redness
Contact allergy, which this ingredient causes fairly often

Precautions

If the treated area becomes more red, itchy or swollen after several days, suspect allergy to the cream itself rather than a worsening rash, and stop using it. Use it on limited areas for short periods. A rash that spreads, weeps or keeps returning should be diagnosed properly, since eczema, fungal infection and psoriasis all look similar but need different treatment.
