CETIRIZINE
Cetirizine is a widely used antihistamine that relieves allergy symptoms without causing much drowsiness for most people. It is taken once a day and is available as tablets and syrup for children.
What Cetirizine Is Used For
- Sneezing, runny nose and watery eyes from allergies
- Seasonal and year-round allergic rhinitis
- Itchy skin and hives (urticaria)

- Mild drowsiness in some people
- Dry mouth
- Headache
Precautions
Although cetirizine is less sedating than older antihistamines, it can still make some people drowsy, so see how it affects you before driving or operating machinery. Avoid taking it with alcohol. If your allergy symptoms do not settle after a few days, or keep coming back, speak to a doctor or pharmacist.
