CLARITHROMYCIN
Clarithromycin is a macrolide antibiotic used when a broad-acting oral antibiotic is needed. It is also one of the medicines combined in stomach ulcer treatment.
What Clarithromycin Is Used For
- Chest infections, bronchitis and pneumonia
- Throat, tonsil and sinus infections
- Skin and soft tissue infections
- As part of combination therapy to clear H. pylori stomach infection
Common Side Effects
- Bitter or metallic taste in the mouth
- Nausea and stomach upset
- Diarrhoea
- Headache
Precautions
Clarithromycin interacts with a long list of other medicines, including some cholesterol and heart medicines, so give your doctor a full list of everything you take, including supplements. Tell your doctor if you have a heart rhythm problem. Finish the whole course even once you feel better.
