DEXLANSOPRAZOLE
Dexlansoprazole is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) that reduces stomach acid. Its dual-release design can be taken at any time of day, with or without food.
What Dexlansoprazole Is Used For
- Acid reflux and heartburn (GERD)
- Healing of the food pipe damaged by acid
- Long-term control of reflux symptoms
Common Side Effects
- Diarrhoea
- Nausea and abdominal pain
- Headache
Precautions
Like other PPIs, dexlansoprazole is meant for a defined course rather than indefinite daily use without review. Long-term use can lower magnesium and vitamin B12. See a doctor if heartburn keeps returning after a course, or if you notice weight loss, difficulty swallowing or black stools.
