This capsule combines two approaches to an enlarged prostate. Tamsulosin relaxes the muscle at the bladder outlet for quick symptom relief, while dutasteride slowly shrinks the gland itself over months by blocking the hormone that drives its growth.

What This Combination Is Used For

  • Moderate to severe symptoms of an enlarged prostate
  • Weak stream, hesitancy, urgency and night time urination
  • Reducing the risk of urinary retention and prostate surgery

Common Side Effects

  • Reduced sex drive and erectile difficulty
  • Reduced or absent semen on ejaculation
  • Dizziness on standing
  • Breast tenderness or enlargement

Precautions

Dutasteride lowers the PSA blood test result, so any doctor checking your prostate must know you take it. Men on this medicine must not donate blood during treatment and for six months after, and women who are or may become pregnant should not handle leaking capsules. Tell an eye surgeon before cataract surgery. Full benefit from the dutasteride part takes six months.
