DYDROGESTERONE
Dydrogesterone is a laboratory made form of progesterone, the hormone that prepares and maintains the lining of the womb. It is used where natural progesterone is lacking or where the cycle needs regulating.
What Dydrogesterone Is Used For
- Irregular, heavy or absent periods
- Painful periods and premenstrual symptoms
- Endometriosis
- Support in threatened or recurrent miscarriage, and in fertility treatment
- Alongside oestrogen in hormone replacement therapy

- Breast tenderness
- Headache
- Nausea
- Breakthrough spotting
Precautions
Timing within the cycle matters a great deal, so follow the schedule your doctor writes rather than a general pattern. Report any unusual heavy bleeding, severe headache, calf pain or swelling. Tell your doctor about liver disease or a history of blood clots. It is a prescription hormone and should not be shared or repeated without review.
