Fenticonazole is an azole antifungal. It damages the membrane fungal cells need to survive, and it is used as a vaginal pessary or cream and as a cream for fungal skin infections.

What Fenticonazole Is Used For

Vaginal thrush and associated itching and discharge
Fungal skin infections including ringworm and athletes foot
Fungal nappy rash and skin fold infections
Mixed fungal and bacterial skin infections

Common Side Effects

Local burning or stinging
Itching where applied
Redness or irritation

Precautions

Complete the course even after the itching stops, since stopping early is the main reason thrush returns. The cream and pessary can weaken latex condoms and diaphragms, so use another method during treatment. Repeated thrush, thrush in pregnancy, or a first episode with unusual discharge, pain or fever should be checked by a doctor rather than self treated.
