FLUTICASONE PROPIONATE
Fluticasone propionate as a nasal spray is a corticosteroid delivered straight into the nose. It reduces the swelling and mucus that cause blockage, sneezing and a runny nose in allergy, with very little absorbed into the rest of the body.
What Fluticasone Nasal Spray Is Used For
- Seasonal and year round allergic rhinitis
- Persistent nasal blockage from dust or pollen allergy
- Nasal polyps
- Sinus symptoms related to allergy
Common Side Effects
- Dryness or irritation in the nose
- Nosebleeds
- Sore throat
- Unpleasant taste
Precautions
It prevents rather than relieves, so it needs daily use for one to two weeks before the full effect appears. Aim the nozzle slightly outward, away from the central wall of the nose, and do not sniff hard after spraying, which reduces nosebleeds and throat irritation. Stop and see a doctor if nosebleeds keep happening or if crusting persists.
