KETOCONAZOLE

Ketoconazole is an antifungal used mainly on the skin and scalp to treat fungal infections and dandruff. It comes as a cream and a medicated shampoo.

What Ketoconazole Is Used For

• Fungal skin infections
• Dandruff and seborrhoeic dermatitis, in shampoo form
• Fungal infections of the scalp

Common Side Effects

• Mild skin irritation or itching
• Dryness where applied
• Change in hair texture with the shampoo

Precautions

For the shampoo, leave it on for a few minutes before rinsing, and use it as often as directed rather than daily unless told. Keep it out of the eyes. If a skin infection does not improve after the advised time, see a doctor or pharmacist.
