PARACETAMOL
Paracetamol (acetaminophen) is one of the most widely used medicines in Pakistan for fever and everyday pain relief. It is available without prescription in tablet, syrup and infusion form.
What Paracetamol Is Used For
- Fever, including fever from flu, dengue and other viral illness
- Headache and migraine
- Body aches, backache and muscle pain
- Toothache and period pain
Common Side Effects
- Generally very well tolerated at recommended doses
- Occasional nausea or skin rash
Precautions
The most important precaution with paracetamol is the total daily dose. Taking more than directed, or taking it alongside cold and flu sachets that already contain paracetamol, can cause serious liver damage. Be extra careful if you have liver disease or drink alcohol regularly.
