Rocuronium is a fast-acting neuromuscular blocking agent. It relaxes the muscles during anaesthesia so that a breathing tube can be placed and surgery carried out.

Pain on injection
Changes in heart rate or blood pressure
Allergic reactions (rare)

Precautions

Rocuronium is given only by anaesthetists with full breathing support available. Its effect can be reversed with sugammadex. Tell the team about previous anaesthetic reactions or muscle diseases.
