Roxithromycin is a macrolide antibiotic. It stops bacteria from making the proteins they need to grow.

What Roxithromycin Is Used For

Throat, tonsil and sinus infections
Chest infections, including bronchitis and atypical pneumonia
Skin and soft tissue infections
Some genital infections

Common Side Effects

Nausea and stomach pain
Diarrhoea
Headache
Skin rash

Precautions

Tell your doctor if you have liver problems, heart rhythm problems or take migraine medicines containing ergotamine, as these can interact. Roxithromycin works best taken before food. Complete the full course prescribed.
