Sodium acid citrate is a urinary alkaliniser. It makes urine less acidic, which eases burning and helps prevent some kidney stones.

What Sodium Acid Citrate Is Used For

Burning and discomfort when passing urine
Mild urinary tract infection symptoms, alongside treatment
Prevention of uric acid and some calcium kidney stones
Metabolic acidosis, as advised by a doctor

Stomach upset
Mild diarrhoea
Bloating

Precautions

Avoid sodium acid citrate if you have heart failure, high blood pressure or kidney failure, or follow a low-salt diet, unless your doctor agrees. It does not cure a urinary infection; see a doctor if you have fever, back pain or blood in the urine.
