STRONITUM CHLORIDE
Strontium chloride is the active ingredient in several desensitising toothpastes. It helps block the tiny tubules in exposed dentine that let hot, cold and sweet sensations reach the nerve, which is what causes the sharp twinge of sensitive teeth.

Precautions
It needs consistent daily use, and relief usually builds over two to four weeks rather than immediately. Rubbing a little onto the sensitive spot with a fingertip and not rinsing straight after helps. Sensitivity that is severe, one sided or comes with pain that lingers may be a cracked tooth, decay or gum disease, and that needs a dentist rather than a toothpaste.
