Tinidazole

Tinidazole is a nitroimidazole antimicrobial. It kills anaerobic bacteria and certain parasites by damaging their DNA.

What Tinidazole Is Used For

• Amoebiasis and amoebic dysentery
• Giardiasis
• Trichomoniasis
• Bacterial vaginosis
• H. pylori infection, as part of combination therapy

Common Side Effects

• Metallic or bitter taste
• Nausea and loss of appetite
• Stomach cramps
• Headache
• Dark urine (harmless)

Precautions

Do not drink alcohol during treatment and for three days afterwards. Avoid tinidazole in the first three months of pregnancy and while breastfeeding unless advised. Tell your doctor if you have a blood disorder or nerve problems.
