Galsit Met 50/500mg Tablet is a combination medication containing two active ingredients: Sitagliptin & Metformin. It is used to manage type 2 diabetes mellitus by helping to control blood sugar levels.

Active Ingredients:

• Sitagliptin: A dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor that works by increasing the levels of incretin hormones in the body, which stimulate the release of insulin and inhibit the release of glucagon, thereby reducing blood sugar levels.
• Metformin: A biguanide antidiabetic agent that reduces glucose production in the liver, decreases intestinal glucose absorption, and improves insulin sensitivity in peripheral tissues.

Uses:

Mechanism of Action:

• Sitagliptin increases the levels of incretin hormones such as glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) and glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP), which stimulate insulin release and inhibit glucagon secretion in a glucose-dependent manner.
• Metformin decreases hepatic glucose production, decreases intestinal absorption of glucose, and improves insulin sensitivity by increasing peripheral glucose uptake and utilization.
