About this product

Overview

Oflocin D Eye Drops contain Ofloxacin, a fluoroquinolone antibiotic, used to treat bacterial infections of the eye such as conjunctivitis (pink eye) and corneal ulcers. Ofloxacin works by inhibiting bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, enzymes necessary for replication, transcription, and repair of bacterial DNA, thereby stopping the growth and multiplication of bacteria.

Uses

  • Treatment of bacterial conjunctivitis.
  • Treatment of corneal ulcers caused by susceptible strains of bacteria.
  • Prevention of eye infections after eye surgeries or injuries.

Side Effects

  • Temporary eye discomfort, burning, or redness.
  • Itching or swelling of the eye or eyelid.
  • Blurred vision or other visual disturbances.
  • Rarely, allergic reactions, including rash, itching/swelling (especially of the face/tongue/throat), severe dizziness, or trouble breathing.

Precautions

  • Not recommended for viral or fungal eye infections.
  • Avoid wearing contact lenses until the infection has cleared and your doctor advises it’s safe to use them.
  • Inform your doctor if you are allergic to ofloxacin, other quinolones, or any other allergies.
  • Pregnant or breastfeeding women should consult their doctor before using Oflocin D Eye Drops.

When Not to Use

  • Hypersensitivity to ofloxacin or any other component of this medication.
  • Viral or fungal eye infections.
  • In patients younger than one year of age.
