Description:

The Optra Inhaler is a handheld device that delivers a metered dose of medication when activated. It contains a pressurized canister filled with a solution or suspension of ipratropium bromide. The inhaler is equipped with a mouthpiece through which the medication is inhaled into the lungs.

Indications:

The Optra Inhaler is indicated for the management of bronchospasm associated with conditions such as COPD, chronic bronchitis, and emphysema. It is also used as a maintenance treatment for bronchospasm in patients with reversible obstructive airway disease, including asthma.

Mechanism of Action:

Ipratropium bromide is an anticholinergic bronchodilator that works by blocking the action of acetylcholine at muscarinic receptors in the bronchial smooth muscle, leading to relaxation of the airway muscles and dilation of the bronchioles. This results in improved airflow and relief of bronchospasm.

Instructions for Use:

1. Remove the cap from the mouthpiece of the Optra Inhaler.
2. Shake the inhaler well before each use.
3. Exhale fully to empty the lungs.
4. Place the mouthpiece between your lips, ensuring a tight seal.
5. Press down firmly on the canister to release one puff of medication while simultaneously inhaling deeply and slowly through the mouth.
6. Hold your breath for 10 seconds or as long as comfortable.
7. Exhale slowly and steadily away from the inhaler.
8. If another puff is required, wait for at least 1 minute before repeating steps 3 to 7.
9. Replace the cap on the mouthpiece after each use to protect the inhaler from dust and debris.

Cleaning and Maintenance:

• Keep the mouthpiece clean by wiping it with a dry cloth or tissue regularly.
• Do not immerse the inhaler in water or attempt to take it apart for cleaning.
• Store the inhaler in a cool, dry place away from moisture and heat.

Precautions:

• Use the Optra Inhaler only as prescribed by your healthcare provider.
• Do not exceed the recommended dose or frequency of use.
• Seek medical attention if your symptoms do not improve or worsen after using the inhaler.
• Inform your healthcare provider about any other medications you are taking, as they may interact with ipratropium bromide.
