Polyfax Plus Skin Ointment contains two active ingredients: Polymyxin B & Bacitracin. These are antibiotics used to treat bacterial infections of the skin. Polymyxin B and Bacitracin work by interfering with the bacteria’s ability to produce essential proteins required for their survival, thus killing the bacteria or inhibiting their growth.
Indications:
Polyfax Plus Skin Ointment is indicated for the treatment of bacterial skin infections, including:
- Impetigo
- Infected wounds
- Minor burns
- Abrasions
- Cuts
- Dermatitis
- Eczema
- Other superficial skin infections caused by susceptible bacteria
Dosage and Administration:
- Apply a thin layer of Polyfax Plus Skin Ointment to the affected area(s) of the skin.
- Wash and dry the affected area(s) before application.
- Repeat the application two to three times daily, or as directed by a healthcare professional.
- Avoid covering the treated area with occlusive dressings unless directed by a healthcare professional.
Precautions:
- Polyfax Plus Skin Ointment is for external use only. Avoid contact with the eyes, mouth, and mucous membranes.
- Discontinue use and consult a healthcare professional if irritation or hypersensitivity reactions occur.
- Do not use Polyfax Plus Skin Ointment for prolonged periods without medical supervision.
Contraindications:
Polyfax Plus Skin Ointment is contraindicated in individuals with a known hypersensitivity to Polymyxin B, Bacitracin, or any other components of the formulation.
