Avodart 0.5mg Capsule is a combination medication containing two active ingredients: dutasteride and tamsulosin & Dutasteride belongs to a class of medications known as 5-alpha-reductase inhibitors, while tamsulosin is an alpha-blocker. This combination is primarily used for the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), a condition characterized by an enlarged prostate gland.

Indications

Avodart 0.5mg Capsule is indicated for:

  • Treatment of symptomatic benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) in adult men with an enlarged prostate gland.

Dosage and Administration

  • The recommended dose of Avodart 0.5mg Capsule is one capsule taken orally once daily.
  • It is usually taken with a meal to enhance absorption.
  • Swallow the capsule whole with a glass of water; do not crush, chew, or open the capsule.
  • It may take several weeks to months of continuous use to see the full benefits of treatment.

Precautions

  • Avodart 0.5mg Capsule should not be used by women, children, or adolescents.
  • Caution is advised in patients with a history of orthostatic hypotension or those taking medications that may lower blood pressure.
  • Before starting treatment, patients should inform their healthcare provider about any medical conditions they have and all medications they are currently taking.
