LYNESTRENOL
Lynestrenol is a progestogen, a laboratory made hormone similar to progesterone. It acts on the lining of the womb and on the cycle, which makes it useful for bleeding problems and in progestogen only contraception.
What Lynestrenol Is Used For
- Irregular or heavy menstrual bleeding
- Delaying a period, on medical advice
- Progestogen only contraception
- Endometriosis, in some regimens
Common Side Effects
- Breakthrough bleeding or spotting
- Breast tenderness
- Headache and mood changes
- Weight change
Precautions
The timing within the cycle changes the effect completely, so follow exactly the schedule your doctor gives. Tell your doctor about liver disease, previous blood clots or unexplained vaginal bleeding, which must be investigated before hormone treatment. Report severe headache, calf pain or swelling, or yellowing of the eyes.
