ALENDRONATE SODIUM
Alendronate is a bisphosphonate that strengthens bone and reduces the risk of fractures. It is used for osteoporosis, often taken once a week.

Common Side Effects
- Heartburn or stomach discomfort
- Muscle or joint aches
- Difficulty swallowing if taken incorrectly
Precautions
Take alendronate first thing in the morning with a full glass of plain water, then stay upright and do not eat, drink or take other medicines for the time stated on the pack – this protects the food pipe. Tell your dentist you take it, as good dental care matters.
