CEFIXIME
Cefixime is a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic taken by mouth. It is widely prescribed in Pakistan for typhoid and other bacterial infections, and comes as capsules, tablets and suspension for children.
What Cefixime Is Used For
- Typhoid fever
- Throat, tonsil and ear infections
- Urinary tract infections
- Certain chest infections
Common Side Effects
- Loose motions or diarrhoea
- Nausea and abdominal discomfort
- Skin rash
Precautions
Cefixime works only against bacteria, so it will not help with colds, flu or other viral illness. Always finish the full course your doctor prescribed, even after you start feeling better, because stopping early lets the infection return in a harder-to-treat form. Tell your doctor if you have ever reacted to penicillin or any cephalosporin.
