ESTAZOLAM
Estazolam is a benzodiazepine sleeping tablet. It calms activity in the brain so that sleep comes more easily and is less broken. It is intended for short courses only, because the body adjusts to it quickly.
What Estazolam Is Used For
- Short term treatment of insomnia
- Difficulty falling asleep or frequent waking
- Sleep disturbance during a period of acute stress, on medical advice
Common Side Effects
- Daytime drowsiness and a hungover feeling
- Dizziness and unsteadiness
- Poor concentration and memory lapses
- Dry mouth
Precautions
Dependence can develop within weeks, and stopping suddenly after regular use can cause rebound insomnia, anxiety and in some cases fits, so any reduction is planned with your doctor. Never combine it with alcohol or other sedatives. Older adults face a higher risk of falls. Persistent insomnia deserves a look at its cause rather than a repeated prescription.
