HYDROCORTISONE

Hydrocortisone is a mild corticosteroid used on the skin to reduce inflammation, redness and itching. It is one of the gentler steroid creams.

What Hydrocortisone Is Used For

• Mild eczema and dermatitis
• Insect bites and skin irritation
• Itchy, inflamed skin

Common Side Effects

• Mild burning or stinging on application
• Skin thinning with prolonged use
• Dryness

Precautions

Use hydrocortisone cream thinly, on the affected area only, and for a few days at a time unless your doctor advises longer. Avoid the face and broken skin unless told. If the rash does not improve within a week, see a doctor or pharmacist.
