INSULIN GLARGINE
Insulin glargine is a long-acting insulin that gives a steady, background level of insulin over about a day. It is used in diabetes, usually once daily.

- Providing steady background blood sugar control
Common Side Effects
- Low blood sugar (hypoglycaemia)
- Weight gain
- Reaction at the injection site
Precautions
Learn the warning signs of low blood sugar – sweating, shakiness, hunger, confusion – and keep something sugary to hand. Inject at the same time each day, rotate the injection site, and never mix glargine with other insulins in the same syringe. Store it as directed.
