LAMOTRIGINE
Lamotrigine is used to control epilepsy and to help stabilise mood in bipolar disorder. It calms overactive nerve signals and the dose is built up very slowly.

- Epilepsy, to prevent and control seizures
- Bipolar disorder, to prevent low mood episodes
Common Side Effects
- Headache and dizziness
- Drowsiness
- Skin rash, especially early on
Precautions
The dose is increased slowly for an important reason: raising it too fast raises the risk of a serious skin reaction. Tell your doctor straight away about any new rash, especially in the first weeks. Never stop lamotrigine suddenly, as this can trigger seizures.
