Metoprolol is a beta blocker used for high blood pressure and heart conditions. It slows the heart rate and eases its workload.

Precautions
Do not stop metoprolol suddenly, as this can strain the heart – the dose is reduced gradually by your doctor. It can make you dizzy at first, so stand up slowly. Tell your doctor if you have asthma, breathing problems or diabetes.
