MICONAZOLE

Miconazole is an antifungal used for fungal and yeast infections of the skin, mouth and other areas. It comes as cream, oral gel and pessaries.

What Miconazole Is Used For

• Fungal skin infections such as ringworm and athlete’s foot
• Oral thrush, in gel form
• Vaginal thrush

Common Side Effects

• Mild burning or itching where applied
• Skin irritation
• Oral gel: occasional nausea

Precautions

Keep using miconazole for the full time advised, even after symptoms clear, so the infection does not return. The oral gel interacts with some medicines, including certain blood thinners, so tell your doctor what you take. See a doctor if there is no improvement.
