Uses

Disprin Tablet is indicated for the treatment of various conditions, including:

  • Pain Relief: Aspirin is effective in relieving pain associated with conditions such as headache, toothache, menstrual cramps, musculoskeletal disorders, and mild to moderate arthritis.
  • Fever Reduction: Aspirin helps reduce fever in individuals with febrile conditions such as colds, flu, or other infections.
  • Anti-inflammatory: Aspirin may be used to reduce inflammation associated with conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, and other inflammatory disorders.
  • Antiplatelet: Aspirin is also used in low doses as an antiplatelet medication to reduce the risk of heart attack, stroke, and blood clot formation in individuals at risk of cardiovascular events.

Side Effects

Common side effects of Disprin Tablet may include:

  1. Gastrointestinal Upset: Nausea, indigestion, heartburn, and abdominal pain.
  2. Gastric Ulcers: Prolonged use or high doses of aspirin may increase the risk of gastric ulcers and gastrointestinal bleeding.
  3. Allergic Reactions: Rarely, aspirin may cause allergic reactions such as rash, itching, or hives.
  4. Bleeding: Aspirin’s blood-thinning effect may increase the risk of bleeding, particularly in individuals with bleeding disorders or those taking anticoagulant medications.

Precautions

  1. Gastrointestinal Risk: Aspirin should be used with caution in individuals with a history of gastrointestinal ulcers or bleeding.
  2. Renal Impairment: Aspirin should be used cautiously in patients with renal impairment, as it can impair kidney function and lead to fluid retention and edema.
  3. Asthma: Aspirin may exacerbate asthma symptoms in susceptible individuals. Patients with asthma should use aspirin cautiously and under medical supervision.
  4. Pregnancy and Breastfeeding: Aspirin should be avoided during pregnancy, especially in the third trimester, due to the risk of fetal harm. It may also pass into breast milk and should be used with caution during breastfeeding.

When Not to Use

Disprin Tablet should not be used in the following situations:

  • Known hypersensitivity or allergy to aspirin or any component of the tablet.
  • History of asthma, urticaria, or allergic-type reactions after taking aspirin or other NSAIDs.
  • Active gastrointestinal ulcers or bleeding.
  • Severe liver or kidney impairment.
  • Children and adolescents with viral infections due to the risk of Reye’s syndrome.
