Ertuvia-M 7.5/1000mg Tablet is a combination medication containing two active ingredients: Empagliflozin & Metformin. Empagliflozin belongs to the class of medications called sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitors, while Metformin is a biguanide antidiabetic agent. This combination is used in the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus to help control blood sugar levels. Empagliflozin works by inhibiting the reabsorption of glucose by the kidneys, leading to increased glucose excretion in the urine. Metformin helps to reduce glucose production in the liver and improve insulin sensitivity in peripheral tissues.

Uses:

1. Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus: Ertuvia-M 7.5/1000mg Tablet is indicated for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults. It helps to improve glycemic control by lowering blood sugar levels through different mechanisms of action. This medication is typically used as an adjunct to diet and exercise in patients whose blood sugar levels are inadequately controlled with either Empagliflozin or Metformin alone.

Side Effects:

While Ertuvia-M 7.5/1000mg Tablet is generally well-tolerated, it may cause side effects in some individuals. Common side effects associated with Empagliflozin and Metformin combination therapy include:

• Genitourinary Infections: Increased risk of urinary tract infections and genital yeast infections may occur due to the mechanism of action of Empagliflozin. Patients should maintain good genital hygiene and seek medical attention if symptoms occur.
• Hypoglycemia: Low blood sugar levels (hypoglycemia) may occur, particularly when Ertuvia-M 7.5/1000mg Tablet is used in combination with other antidiabetic medications or insulin. Patients should be educated about the signs and symptoms of hypoglycemia and instructed on appropriate management.

Precautions:
