Description

Quisha Met 5/1000mg Tablet is a combination medication available in tablet form. It contains two active ingredients: dapagliflozin & metformin hydrochloride (HCl). Dapagliflozin belongs to the class of medications called sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitors, while metformin is a biguanide antidiabetic agent. This combination medication is used to manage type 2 diabetes mellitus.

Components:
  • Dapagliflozin: Dapagliflozin works by inhibiting SGLT2, a protein responsible for the reabsorption of glucose in the kidneys. By blocking SGLT2, dapagliflozin helps to increase the amount of glucose excreted in the urine, thereby lowering blood sugar levels.
  • Metformin HCl: Metformin works by decreasing the production of glucose in the liver and improving insulin sensitivity in peripheral tissues. It also helps to lower blood sugar levels by increasing glucose uptake by muscle cells and decreasing intestinal glucose absorption.
Uses:
  • Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus: Quisha Met 5/1000mg Tablet is indicated for the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus. It is used along with diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adults with diabetes.
Dosage and Administration:
  • The dosage of Quisha Met 5/1000mg Tablet is determined based on individual patient needs and medical condition.
  • It is usually taken orally once daily, with the dosage strength representing the dapagliflozin/metformin HCl combination (e.g., 5 mg dapagliflozin and 1000 mg metformin HCl).
  • The tablet should be taken with meals to reduce the risk of gastrointestinal side effects associated with metformin.
  • It is important to follow the dosage instructions provided by the healthcare provider.
Precautions:
  • Kidney Function: Quisha Met 5/1000mg Tablet should be used with caution in patients with impaired kidney function. Dose adjustment may be necessary based on the patient’s estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR).
  • Hypotension: Dapagliflozin may cause a decrease in blood pressure, particularly in patients with a history of hypotension or those taking antihypertensive medications.
  • Lactic Acidosis: Metformin can rarely cause a serious side effect called lactic acidosis, particularly in patients with kidney impairment or other predisposing factors. Patients should be monitored for signs and symptoms of lactic acidosis.
  • Dehydration: Patients should be advised to maintain adequate hydration while taking Quisha Met to prevent dehydration.
  • Genital Mycotic Infections: SGLT2 inhibitors, including dapagliflozin, may increase the risk of genital mycotic infections such as genital yeast infections or urinary tract infections.
Side Effects:
  • Common side effects of Quisha Met 5/1000mg Tablet may include urinary tract infections, genital mycotic infections, increased urination, thirst, gastrointestinal disturbances (e.g., diarrhea, nausea, vomiting), and dizziness.
  • Serious side effects such as hypoglycemia, ketoacidosis, and acute kidney injury may occur rarely. Patients should seek medical attention if they experience any unusual symptoms.
Storage:
  • Store Quisha Met 5/1000mg Tablet at room temperature (15-30°C) away from moisture and heat.
  • Keep out of reach of children.
  • Do not use Quisha Met 5/1000mg Tablet if the packaging is damaged or if the tablets appear discolored or deteriorated.
